A. Where does your sea urchin come from?

All our products are made using 100% wild-caught Tasmanian sea urchin roe, responsibly harvested from Tasmanian waters. Tasmania’s cold, clean marine environment produces sea urchin roe with exceptional flavour, colour, and natural umami.

B. Do your products contain artificial flavours?

No - The savoury depth in our products comes from sea urchin roe, supported by complementary ingredients such as natural seasonings and umami-rich components.

We do not use artificial flavouring to replicate sea urchin taste.

C. Are your products Australian made?

Our products are made using Tasmanian sea urchin roe, with value-added manufacturing carried out overseas. Sauces and dry products supplied to Australia and New Zealand are produced in accordance with Australian food standards (FSANZ). We choose transparency by clearly stating both ingredient origin and place of manufacture, rather than using “Australian made” or “Product of Australia” claims.

D. Are your products new?

Yes. Our sauces and dry products are new releases and represent the first widely launched value-added sea urchin roe range developed and commercialised by the Salty Roe Tasmania. Building on our experience through Salty Roe Tasmania in harvesting and exporting Tasmanian sea urchin roe, this range expands uni beyond traditional formats into accessible, everyday and professional applications.

We use a proprietary sea urchin roe extract derived from 100% Tasmanian sea urchin roe. The process uses gentle preservation techniques designed to concentrate natural umami while maintaining the roe’s original character. The exact method is proprietary, but the focus is always on purity, consistency, and flavour.

Depending on the product, ingredients may include:

  • Tasmanian sea urchin roe extract or concentrate

  • Sugar and salt (for balance)

  • Soy sauce powder and yeast extract (to enhance natural umami)

  • Spices such as pepper, onion, garlic, and ginger

  • Sea vegetables such as Tasmanian wakame

  • Stabilising agents where required for consistency and shelf life

G. Do your products contain artificial flavours?
